Virg, I don't have any info from the owner. I'm having a very difficult time contacting him/her, so I know nothing of the history. Whatever I find out, if it's still possible for me, I'll post. Otherwise I'll just drop it and let the rust take it to car heaven. If they have good records of it, I'll try and get ahold of those and share. how can you see about the drivertrain from the pics though? (I'm not sure I even know what that is, honestly). But yes, it would be a DD and if it is an 06 and isn't as banged up (other than body) as we think, I would make it last me as long as possible.
My only other car is a 95 civic hand-me-down that was poorly looked after.

I did think about rummaging through a junkyard, but I figured pickings would be slim. This is a relatively new car, I wouldn't think parts would be very numerous. I was thinking ebay or something, but I'm not sure how I feel about ebay and car parts.

I have friends that work at 3 Wrecking yards that I have looking for some parts for mine and they never see a Mazda3 HB, a couple of Sedans and that is it. So you are right about the slim pickings.
BTW The price for Parts I gave was from a Mazda parts Site.

I was speaking rhetorically. The fact is that we don't know what the car was used for or how at this point.
If, for example, it was a an inexperienced kid and he street raced it, he may have over-revved it time and time again, blown-out the clutch (it IS a 5-sp I hope?) or any one of a number of other things.
That was the point I was trying to make.
Frankly, I think Kens $5-6k estimate to be a little low. My guess would be more in the $7-8k range for starters.

Just curious, but what is it you're after for yours, Ken?

Maybe the owner went to jail after the accident. Lol. Take down the VIN number on the car go to carfax.com and see if the car was reported. Right now that's the only way to find out anything about this car. Good luck

Ah, ok...What is the drivetrain though? I suppose I could look at howstuffworks, but that seems to leave a lotta stuff out
But that makes sense enough.
I thought the VIN was usually located inside the door or under the hood? Is it also under the windshield, ontop the dash? I feel like I once read it was there

OEM LED Tails and the OEM HID headlamps.
In fact they just got a 07 GT in, but of course it is a 4 door

Actually Richard, it was broadsided and then hit a tree, but I will say this, the side and curtain airbags were all deployed and I saw no blood.
Then again even the seats were screwed up from doors hitting them, including the track on the power drivers side seat.
