Can CAM position sensor cause transmission problems ?

That's pretty good. My first tranny blew @ 35,000 km. It was replaced under warranty! After that I installed an external tranny cooler. At 50,000 km i had it flushed and filled with synthetic oil equivalent on MY Mazda6 as i drive it hard with mostly city driving and mine is an automatic. The place that did my flush and fill gave me a life time warranty up to a few thousand dollars, my next scheduled tranny service is at another 50,000 km (100,000 km on odometer).
With new tranny's the recommended has dropped down to 30,000 miles from 50,000 miles especially if mostly city driving.
Not all trannys are equal though.
A few good articles on tranny temp, fluid and mileage:

thanks for links,
I have changed CAM speed sensor 2 days ago and it seems that the problem is solved.
No AT light, no transmission problems up to now.Hope it stays so in future.
Also, I can see that the transmission shift more smoothly and easily with new CAM sensor

That's great. Keep us informed on any situation that arises. We all learn and gain from feedback.

Hi ALL,
recent updates:
After replacing the CAM speed sensor, for few days no AT and no transmission problems.
However, now I got them back. But I need to say, that way it is not so often as used to be.
As I did computer diagnostic again, I think I am getting closer to real problem
Now it says: P0715. which means inpute turbine speed sensor.
As I googled in internet, most of the people were saying that for this problem, P0715 was the cause.
The sensor is located exactly under the Battery. I will replace it see what happens.
