Car won"t turn over - Fuel Pump???
2004 Mazda 3 90,000 miles
Ok, so this has all happened about 4-5 times now where my car won't turn over...This has all happened when I have been low on gas from sitting in traffic.
Here are some senarios...
I will became low on gas, the gas light JUST came on. I turned the car off ran into the store and it wouldn't start.. Tried a bit again, it wouldn't. I had to let the car sit over night.. The next morning, the car started perfectly fine and I went to fill up.. No problems..
Again, from a long drive and sitting in traffic I became low on gas.. Turned the car off and tried to start it nothing.. I went to the gas station and got some gas containers and filled it up half way.. Still it wouldn't start.. I had to let the car sit for about 4 hours and it then started
At work, I had gas and it wouldn't turn over... Tried to jump start the car, un hook the battery redo it, for just incase.. Nothing! So I took it to the mechanic and he said, you have a bad starter.. Ok.. So I fixed the starter
Last night, low on gas from driving home from work, I stoped and filled up to a full tank..started the car perfectly fine. Went into another store, turned the car off and I came back out..It started fine again.. Went to another store, come out and it wouldn't start. It doesn't even crank.. No noise..nothing..
My headlights work, blinkers, radio.. everything is perfect.. but it just won't turn over.. So this about 8:00 at night.. I figure, just leave the car over night and it should start today..
Nope, nothing again..
Do you think the fuel pump has been worn out? I've tried to read about this and some articles say its the starter, but its def. not.
Or I have read it can be the fuel line, fuel filter?
Any suggestions on how I can try to get my car started again or even do a diagnostic/test by myself?? Also, is there some where online I can locate all of the areas to be tested, (like where the fuel relay is located)?
THANKS!!!!!

RE: Car won"t turn over - Fuel Pump???
Pontiac's are the same way, i've seen soo many of those starters do the same thing especially when it gets cold.
I've also had moisture get into the starter then freeze, guess thats what i get for living in Illinois, cold one day and warm the next.
It was 40F the past two days, now its 5F!
