Default Chair Roof Transportation Question

I need to transporta living room chair (not a super heavy recliner, just a nice chair that matches a sofa) about 15 miles. Am I insane to consider strapping it to my M3's roof and doing it? If I proceed, what precautions should I take? Tips/Guidance/Real Life stories?

Save yourself some trouble and rent a full size pick up or van. Why risk damage to your car or others by putting it on the roof?

you might dent the roof or scratch it...it doesnt take much to make some of those roofs flex. I'd just rent a van like 1funride said

+3. ^ ^ ^
We had a small hail storm here about two years ago. Nothing major at all.... DENTS!!! 4, maybe 5of 'em.
Tried to get them out w/the dry ice treatment. It worked to some extent, but if you look, especially in the sun,you can still see them there.

Go to Home Depot, buy one extra long 2X4 nd rent their truck for 19.95 an hour to take it home and pick up the chair on the way home.

Exactly.....

Now if you had a roof rack you could use, I wouldn't hesitate to put it up there (securely strapped down.)

Okay ... what if I put it in the trunk as much as I can, and then I strap it in ... any dangers in that?

Strap the chair in and strap the trunk down, thatshould work.
Mind you, I have not seen the size of the chairso it really is a guess.
