Default Changing my engine in 2008 Mazda 3

Good afternoon. I need to change my engine on my 2008 Mazda 3i. I have a 2.0L with a manual transmission. Is there a difference between the manual and automatic transmissions that I need to take into account before purchasing a new engine?

My understanding there are no engine differences between the transmission types. If you really want to confirm this, call pretty much any auto recycler and ask them to confirm that via their interchange book.

The above said, I have been led to believe there were a few differences in the 2.0 liter engine starting somewhere in the 2005-2006 model year range. Said another way, I *think* the auto recycler will tell you something along the lines of, "all 2.0 liter engines from Mazda3s between 2007 and 2009 are compatible with your 2008 vehicle."
