I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the welcome message that says "Hello" when the car turns on in the 2009 3
Ive looked around and can find nothing

 

I have heard of people trying, but I personally don't know anyone that was successful. You'd have to figure out where the software is that controls that, which is probably(?) the main PCM/ECU. Then you'd have to rewrite the software being sure not to screw up anything else.
Is it really worth it? Most of the time I don't even notice it in my own car, and when I do....

 

While ostensibly I agree with Richard (and have in fact been telling people the same thing for years) someone just found this the other day. A guy in Russia built a module which interfaces with the CAN bus controller on the HU and he was able to reprogram the "HELLO" and has his display set up to work with his back up sensors. A couple of members on that forum who speak Russian have been talking with him to see if they could figure out how he did it, and how to get it over here. The down side is since the harness is different on pre '06 models it wouldn't work on '04 '05 models.

So is it possible? Yes. Does it take a great deal of know how? Definitely.

 

Oh dont get me wrong, its not a major issue, I just thought about it earlier when I was playing around with the radio and such, I saw under one of the ***** it said text
Im fine with it saying hello if its reallllly hard to change lol

 

I wish there was an audible Hello along with it in a hot sexy chick voice.
