Default Check Engine / Battery Light

Last night on my way home from work my check engine light came on and the battery light keeps flashing in series of twos, threes, fours, and fives, in no particular order. the battery light only flashes when the car is in motion, but not at a standstill. the check engine light is constantly on. the car doesnt really feel like it is driving differently though, but ive only been revving it as high as 3000 rpm since.

What could this mean? -- and is it safe to drive my car until it has been checked out?
Alternator? Battery?

Turned out it was the wires running to the air intake were stretched out too tight. I think Mazda is responsible for this because they replaced that wiring harness and MAS previously and most likely stretched it out too much.

Default RE: Check Engine / Battery Light

you know, i have the smae problem with my 3. and it sucks. i've had my cai for over a year now. and about the 14 month i had it, it went to **** on me. engine light comes on, battery light comes on. **** sucks. the mass airflow sensor sucks in these cars. so does the tire pressure monitoring system. if you have after market tires and rims, and the monitoring system it goes berzerk. have you had problems with the car bucking and jerking? i know how to fix that. but you'll lose horsepower. disconnect the wiring harness from the mas. the engine light will stay on, but you can always get that turned off. another i found was that in the wiring harnes for the mas, there was a wire disconnected. but my car doesnt buck and jerk anymore. just the engine light and battery light comes on. mine might be from that viper alarm system and auto start with a 2400 watt amp and 3 12" subs i have in. but i could always be wrong. and i was wondering, if anyone has a 2.3 stock air filter kit they want to sell, i'm almost tempted to go back to the stock until all the bugs have been worked out of the 3. tahts the only reason why i haven't done anything else to the car. i had straight pipes and turbo lined up with custom carbon fiber hood and trunk.

Default Check engine / Battery light

I am just now having this problem. My alternator has died and once it was replaced I still had the issue. I had a fuse blow for my radio recently and when I went to check all the fuses to see if they were bad I could not find one(I only looked at fuses under the hood). After that I went to drive my car to work and the check engince and batter lights were on. As ive been told the reason my car was only hitting 3k RPM is because it is in a fail safe mode. I am still looking to find out what happened. I then looked at the fuses under the passenger side, that is where I found the blown fuse for the stereo. With the new alternator and fuse in place It is still not working right. If anyone has been able to fix this on their own please let me know.

If your car is in limp mode and the CEL is on take it and have the code read. That should give you an idea of what's going on that's causing the issue.
