Chipped paint on brand new Mazda3 - scared of rust
Hello everyone,
as the title says, I bought a brand new Mazda3 in soul red paint a week ago only to get hit by a freaking rock the very next day, resulting in a visible spot where the paint got chipped away. To make matters worse, the rock somehow managed to land on the C pillar, of all places. Two days later, I went to a local Mazda dealership, where they put a dab of 46V paint, sealed it and called it a day. The quick fix looks like ****, to be honest, but it's better than nothing I guess. The thing that's been bothering the hell out of me for the last couple of days is the potential rust that might have begun to form in those two days. So what are your thoughts? Should I be worried that the spot will eventually form a hideous invisible rust spot that will spread and eat away at the body?

I have the same issue. Same model, same color, 1000 km less than a month old. Seems like it's a common problem for Mazda. I found what looks like a good YT video that covers how to buff around the scratch to remove rust and cover it with paint and clearcoat. I'm not going to post it since I think that's what got my similar thread deleted.

I recommend that you invest about 40 dollars in a 3 parts touch up paint set. Start now while you only have one. This happens to almost every color MAZDA RED just gets more attention on forums while Mica because it tends to hide chips gets almost no recognition and other colors there must not be an owner/member interest to "chip" in the threads about this subject. .
