Clicking sound from console
I bought a 2009 Mazda3 about a month ago and am hearing a "click" from the console. I can't pin it down to any specific time/reason. It will make the sound as I'm driving down the road, and also when I hit a bump. It doesn't always do it either. Please, help!
Thanks.
Thanks.

It could be the centre console button may be loose and moves up and down while your driving. Question. Do you put your arm on the centre console? That can affect it quite a bit. Because if you do then it can cause it to become lose. Which would cause the screws to get loose and the connector piece to run more freely. Take a look at it, look at the screws and you should find your problem

No it's not engine noise. The car is only one month old. I'm going to run it by the dealer when I get a chance.
It's just this random click then nothing and a few minutes later click again. I've had several old clunkers and know engine knocking . That's one of the worst sounds. But not like CV joints going bad.

Cowl rattle
There is a tsb of some sort on the local mazda forum here in Canada. Explains that the slip pins need some kind of new bushing at the rain gaurd.

Might not apply to you guys as your cars are fairly new.

My guess would be the multi cd player.
Sometimes if you have a cd that has a bad spot on it, the player skips over that area, and you could be hearing it click as it skips.
Try loading a known good cd,(only one, and remove the rest)and see if the clicking still hasppens.
This could indicate why you are not hearing it all the time.
It only happens when the defective cd is playing.
Another way to see if it is the player is to keep it shut off and see if you hear the clicking.
Bob.
