Cruise Control

Cruise Control
What is the best way to install cruise on my 3? I am sick of my leg and foot hurting on long trips cause the throttle spring is so weak I have to hold my foot back so I dont speed.

If the Mazda3 is the same in Austria as in North America, the information is already in the PCM. All you should have to do is install a few switches for the brake pedal and clutch pedal defeat and the on/off - accel/decel switches on the steering wheel which come as a unit anyway.
In N.A. the wiring is already in place.

I can not be sure. The smallest engine available here in the US is a 2.0L petrol engine. But if the 1.6 cars have optional cruise control available there in Austria then I would say the chances are good.
You may have to be the guinea pig/lab rat though. It depends how badly you want it.
Is the 1.6L a drive by wire car? Or is there a physical throttle cable?

Hmmmm. While that probably makes you the envy of most of us here (I would love it if my car were DBC) I'm afraid that will make it harder to install cruise control.
And yes, the throttle spring on ours could be a bit stouter too.
Because it's DBC you would need some sort of actuator motor, vacuum or electric. Having never been to Austria, though I understand its beautiful, I have no idea how it might be accomplished there. I'm guessing that it would be a PCM controlled electric "stepper" motor, similar to the ones that control a DBW throttle body, verses the old school vacuum system CC's used to be?
You may have to search and send for a kit from another Europeon or Asian country... and it may have to be an aftermarket unit? A lot of guesses, I know, but I have little to go on.
