Question Dashboard and Taillights Blackout

Hey All,

I drive a 2004 Mazda 3 and for the last couple of months my dashboard, as well as my taillights seem to go completely out. After smacking my car a few times right under the steering wheel they come back up. This happens on and off and I have no idea what's going on or what can it be. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this topic. Thanks in advance!

The parking lights and instrument cluster lights/etc share the same fuse and the circuit is switched from headlight switch. I would pull the column cover and check for a wire that has pulled out of the connector (tilt steering can do that) and test the switch with a test light and do a wiggle test at the same time. They can be repaired if you are careful about it.
