Unhappy A different turbo problem (2006 1.6 Diesel 80kw)

Hello. I have a 2006 Mazda3 1.6 DI Turbo 80kw. It had issues with low power, so I started trying to get it fixed. I brought it to a mechanic and he changed the turbo regulation valve, which did help, but didn`t completely fix the problem. And then, two other mechanics had a look at it and they thought that the DPF was stuffed. So I took it out and tried to clean it myself (there was plenty of filth coming out), but that didn't help at all. After all that, I found out, that there was a wrong kind of turbo fitted in (probably a cruel joke from the previous owner). There was a turbo with a wastegate, but it is supposed to be a VGT turbo. So I bought the right VGT turbo and fitted it in. But, the car ran exactly the same as with the old one. Right now, after driving with it for a few weeks, it actually seems as if it's getting better. I know that there are some kind of adaptations that the ECU does, but I don't know what exactly that is. Could that have something to do with it? I use the program FORScan as a diagnostics tool, and there is an option to "reset all adaptations". I thought about doing the reset, but I couldn't find what exactly it would do, so I didn't want to try. What do you think? Does anyone have any experience with a weird situation like that?
