Disable internal trunk release?

Disable internal trunk release?
Hi,
I just bought a 2012 Mazda3 and I'm wondering if there's a way to temporarily disable the cable trunk release? In my 2007 Corolla you can disable it just by turning the trunk key all the way counterclockwise. Clearly that won't work on my Mazda because there is no trunk key hole! Is there some other method I'm not aware of?
It seems silly to lock your valuables in the trunk when all thieves have to is break the glass and then pull the trunk release. Is this common to all Mazdas?
TIA for any replies.

There should be a switch on the inside of the trunk lid, probably near the internal release handle. On the first gen there were also switches on the back seat backs which disabled the seat fold down buttons. That way you could disable the trunk release and stop someone from getting to the trunk through the cabin.
Now since the trunk doesn't have a keyhole I'm assuming it opens via a remote button?

Yes, it opens by a remote on the key fob as well as by the cable release from the drivers seat.
I've looked for a disable switch and can't seem to find one in the trunk near the latch. Surely I'm not overlooking it?
I can't find any mention of it in the owners manual.

Hmmm. I'm seeing a friend who owns a 1st gen sedan tomorrow so I'll try to snap a pic of the switch from her car to give you an idea. Hopefully they didn't take it out.
Oh, also check where the actual latch is on the trunk lid. Perhaps there's a switch there.
