I have a 2007 Mazda 3 and when i look at the display on the dashboard i see stuff that does not light up that looks like it should i.e a/c thing and other things where it looks like there is places for stuff to light up...but i cannot figure out how to get it to light up...is this normal and is there a way to get that stuff to light up?

 

if you're talking about the buttons where you turn the AC on, the back defroster, and the air circulation button then yes, those should have a small light next to it to show that its on when you press the button. On everything else it should just be lit on the main screen which shows the time, radio station, etc...and behind the other buttons it should all be red. (i think)

 

I think some of those icons and whatnot are for some electronic HVAC control units instead of manual ***** like some models.

Yeah what knucklehead11 said. Those are for the automatic climate control and the trip computer. They will only display if you have a GT model. The trip computer can actually be activated on all 06 and i believe early 07 models. I know for sure on the 06 models. I don't know eactly how to do it, but if you search the various mazda forums, or google, you will find it. It's not hard to do. It might take a couple of minutes

 

gt model or ms3 models all use the same unit as the normal 3s but the climate control is set up a lil differently... ill take a pic of mine and post it on here a lil later...
