Downgrading adaptive HID headlights?
Hey all, I have a 2016 Mazda 3 Grand Touring S-model. It is my baby and I love it. Tragically, a relative backed into the car and damaged the casing and reflector for one of the headlights (as well as a little of the grill and hood). Because this is the high trim-level, it comes with HID adaptive headlights - these run $2000 each if you buy OEM. We are trying to fix the car out-of-pocket. We've had no luck with junkyards or aftermarket replacement parts.
As fancy as these are, I don't want to pay $2000 to replace the headlight - I would rather downgrade both lights to a simple halogen or something similar. I am told that low-trim levels of Mazda 3 come with much cheaper headlights.
The issue: My mechanic and the local dealership say that only the "HID + Adaptive" headlights are listed as being appropriate for my specific car.
My question: is there any way I can downgrade my headlights to something simpler? Are these incredibly fancy headlights truly the only thing that will work in my car?
Thank you so much for your help and advice!

Hey thanks for your replies. I never found a solution. Every auto part seller I called, and my mechanic, are all saying saying that the only headlight that will fit my car is a $2,000 OEM part, and that nobody can find anything cheaper. Thanks for the lead with RockAuto.com - they have a part that might be what I'm looking for. (It's likely of a lower quality compared to the ridiculously ritzy part, but that's to be expected). I'll check with my mechanic and see what I can do with this.
