Engine noise

My belt went early in the car's life. I suspect a bad belt. Was not driven enough to be worn out. I am not sure if the W.O.T's with the a/c on did anything or not. Hasen't ever been a problem again.

AC belt making the ticking noise? Doesn't the ac have to be on then? I will ask the dealer to check it out. I am still waiting for their phone call. They said they are ordering some belt, but I didn't ask which one. The noise IS happening on idle and acceleration now, mostly on accel now. Here still waiting for some news from the dealer.......

anyone know how important the survey is? the one that either comes in the mail or the hated phone call during dinner time. the dealership told me numerous times not to pick up the phone or turn in the survey unless ima give them a 10. do they get something for a perfect score?

yes, i learned about it in service writing class, the dealerships really do depend on teh customers reviews, what you say can seriously impact what type of people work there and how its run. i say fill it out honestly

got car back fixed yesterday. dealer claimed they change the Drivebelt Tensioner. seems like that was the problem cause the car runs quietly now. hope they did change something and not just spray wd40 at it.

i used to spray it on my older car and it makes it more quiet. this is what i heard, if u spray and let the car run or drive it immediately it is okay. let it sit and the spray might dry and cause the belts to crack. i sprayed it once in awhile and drove it right away. noises usually stay away for a couple of months.

Glad to see you got the problem fixed, as soon as I read the part about the noise coming from the front right I knew what the problem was. I just had my tensioner pulley blow up at 120kmh ont the highway and toss the belt (not Happy) but yeah the pulley is a cheap pos plastic pulley so warning guys take a look at yours for cracks. And also all the places i tried said the pulley is not sold by itself but as an assembly but i found out that the mazda 6 2.3 pulley is available and it fits perfectly.

Got the car back yesterday. problem not fixed, mechanic claims he took it for a 3 mile drive with the service advisor and didnt hear anything...bullssss. He didnt even go 1 mile (mileage at dropoff = 15,474, at pickup = 15,474). I bet he turned on the car, gassed it a bit, and said nothing is wrong. I carpool to work with 2 other guys and they hear it. My gf hears it too. How the hell the ''specialist" not? Pretty sure its because the car is still under warranty, meaning the mechanics doesnt get any extra pay or bonuses for working on my car. Gonna bring it back Monday.
I do have more complicated noise.
“Mazda3 2008 2.3L (AT)
When I drive a car on quite route at 35-37mph at 5 gear speed and slightly accelerate, RPM drops from 1750rpm to 1500rpm as a result of it I hearing VALVES slightly knocking.
It doesn't happen when you switch manual gear level.
I was in dealership two times and they didn't hear anything or doesn't wont to hear.
What kind of sensors is malfunction?
What do you think?”
Today I got OBDCOM diagnostic tool, digital recorder. I'm going to collect all evidences and then go to dealership.
I think they doesn't want to hear anything under a warranty until you show them what exactly problem is and show them how to fix it.

Sport3, if only you were reading my message earlier. I could have suggested the solution and gotten my car fixed the second time I went to the dealership. (I had to go 4 times) It is all ok now. Thanks for your input. Do seems like I have to put my foot down more to get the car going, but noise is gone and more quieter than before, so I am happy.
Yshak, I have no idea what your car is doing. Hopefully you get it fixed and post what the solution is on here so others can see. 35-37 mph in fifth gear????
