RE: Front Emblem
My God! That looks like a lot of work (and supplies) for the same results. I hadn't seen that thread.
Also, if you wanted to go back to chrome, you'd have to buy all new badges... very costly. For me, all I'd have to do is soak them in lacquer thinner for about an hour and wipe!
That was a while ago, and I didn't read the whole thread either, but I wonder how they are holding up for him?
As you could see, I did my fog light surrounds using the method I described earlier, and really layed on the clear to protect them. Even they have a few minor stone chips in them, and they were not chromed to begin with.I did prep them extremely well as I did not want to have to do those over again for a long while.
My guess (re: opinion) is, that no matter what you do it will eventually have to be done over again.

RE: Front Emblem
The sedans are different, but for my HB, I took out the whole assembly including that black surround which you can see in my sig pic. Then,I was able to remove the light assembly itself from it. The surround isn"t a separate piece, so after that it was just a matter of taping off what I didn"t wantpainted, prepping and painting it.

RE: Front Emblem
i took all the chrome off using a mix of chemical solutions. i painted them black but was really looking for the shinyness that you have achieved. is there any paint that can get me that shiny finish?without the chrome underneath?
(ive had mine painted for months and not one chip)
