Hello everyone. Quick question. I have an I model that has the ****ty red gauges and everytime i look at the S model ones it makes me want to get them. I was wondering if in any way possible if it IS possible to swich the I model guages, with just plain red, with the S model gauges with the red w/ the blue LED on the top. THANKS

PS - if anybody finds or has any step by step instructions, if they can be provided in a response that would be helpful. THanks again!

I have a 2009 M3 i Touring, and I have been wondering the same exact thing. I mean, geez, could they have come up with a gauge design that is harder to see, day or night?

 

While it is possible to swap them out the dealer will have to be involved as all of the PATS information is stored in the cluster...... i.e. you could swap the clutser but the car wouldn't start.

I know there are instructions on how to remove and disassemble the cluster on M3F. Also someone over there did an interesting mod..... basically put a piece of plexi over the front of the gauge face (under the needles) with a round cut out just on the inside of the white ring where all the hash marks are. Then he put a blue LED strip under the bottom of the plexi and ended up with a lit blue ring around the edge of the face in addition to the blue leds that shine on the face.

 

Cool idea, cool look, however, that says to me, "That dude has waaaaaaaay tooooo much time on his hands."

 

No doubt about that. Still creative. Apparently he got the idea off the new Mz6 gauges.

 

Am I the only I owner with the blue LED gauges or something?

I have a 2008 i Sport, red digits and stuff with the white gauge face lit up blue. Am I just lucky or something? lol
