Default Glove box problem

So today on my way to work I was pulling out of the convenience store and there was a manhole cover my front right tire went over and as I went over it I was accelerating in first gear and it is raining so it spun and wheel hopped and made 3 loud bangs. My glove box flew open and when i looked back the manhole and pavement were not the same level so I think thats what made it thump so hard... Not a real big deal but I didn't want to wheel hop.

So I reach over and try to close the glove box and it goes all the way up except about an inch from being closed it has resistance like there is something wedged in the door in the way. So I stopped and looked and looked but I cannot see anything stopping it from closing. I was able to push it closed but it took way too much force(and more than it used to). I tried to look down on the bottmon of the door but cannot see anything in there. MAybe something got bent because it opened so hard(plus I have some cd's and stuff in the door which made it heavier. Any ideas guys? Maybe I can take it apart and see if something looks bent or damaged? maybe the hinge itself? Thanks, John.

I'd pull the glovebox and see what's up with it. Take of the dash strip above the box, remove the two screws behind that, then just pull really firmly on the box. There are I think five tension clips holding it in. Two on top, one on the right, and one on the bottom in the back. Unscrew the light wiring and it'll be free.

Default RE: Glove box problem

thnx for the tip on removing the box itself icspots. The problem seems to have kinda fixed itself. I had forced it closed yesterday and today when i went to check it out it seesm almost back to normal, just a little resistance the 1/2 inch or so.. so that leads me to belive that it flew open with such force it bent the plastic hinge just a little bit and having it closed over night has straightened it back out. I guess... I may pull the box this weekend if I can find some time and if it doesn't get better. Thanks again for the info. I'll post here again if I find anything interesting...
