Default got my winter tires today.. bleh

sooo today was a good day but a bad day. good day because i got my snow tires... bad because i had to get my alloys taken off my car and put on the winter steelies.. but it doesnt actually look too bad imo.i kinda like the look. cost me $600 at a garage near my place that specializes in tires.. in fact the guy who installed them i knew.. so that was cool. but yea they are on.. and pictures to come soon.. once my camera stops being gay.

Think of it as a temporary rally car makeover.

Better to have the snow tires on and look like everyone else. Then to have pitted rims next summer. Plus, the post above says the lady rear ended an suv. Better to have the snows than an avoidable accident.
I am not impressed with the "steely" look myself.
But, whatever.
I don't like the 15 inch rims either.
But..................I plowed thru the two bad snow days we had without a hitch.

I can't really empathize with you here, I use all-season tires....we don't get enough snow in the city to justify snow tires. It's nice not to have that expense, but at the same time it would give me an excuse to get summer tires for handling.

Though, I have to admit, the Bridgestones I have now perform and wear quite well for all-season tires.

i agree with u in a way VB.. the CITY doesnt really require snow tires, but you have think bout the area you noramlly travel in. if its down side streets and quiet areas.. its definitely a good idea to get them cuz the less traffic, the more snow. remmber last friday it snowed here? i was takin making a left turn and my car kept goin straight... i lmost hit another car... luckily i was already goin a little slow so i didnt travel too far.. that incident has me seriously thinkin of snow tires..

I'm usually stuck to pretty popular roads, save for when I go to my girlfriend's house. Snowy hill, wtf.

Yeah. I changed all four tires. Changed the rim size down to 15's from 16's to save some money.
But, they work.

Gas mileage is worst with them though. Even though they are not all that aggressive looking.
Must be the rims. Or the cold weather.

Turning 9 or litres per 100kms instead of my 7's. []

My street was a skating rink this morning. All ice. 401 was dry. But it was even difficult to walk. Slippery.

Ice tires handled pretty good.

the reason for the gas mileage is because the cold air is more dense, so....

more air = more fuel needed.

so you get **** fuel economy.

i got 300 km's on my last tank.
i usually get 450
