Last time I checked, my "regular Mazda3" already had halogen bulbs. Did I miss something?

Why does everybody confuse HIDs for Halogen??? Cars have been standard with Halogen since before I was born.

Oh my bad. I did mean HID lights. Or are there brighter halogens than the type we have stock? I'm guessing that for switching to HID lights, you'd need a kit and what not.

Yes you can switch out the stock halogen lamps for other halogen lamps.... you just need to make sure you get the right size ('04-'09 low beam is H7). While some uber-expensive halogen lamps may be slightly brighter than regular ones they tend to accomplish this by overdriving the lamp's filament which causes premature failure of the lamp.

I bought one set of silverstars for my 3. There was no discernible difference in light output or color, and they lasted less than two months...... both of them. If you're looking to get more light on the road I highly recommend installing a HID kit. Depending on where you buy from you can get a HID kit for the price of about two pairs of silverstars, they put out 3x as much light, and they have a much longer life span.

If you go the HID route I also recommend doing a clear lens swap as it adds some color and cleans up the cutoff immensely.

No Clear lens, and the frosted lens takes away most of the affects of the whiter Light of the Silver Stars
