Default Hard Shift

Hello everyone. I recently purchased my first Mazda, a 2005 3 Hatchback (5 door) with 34K mikes. Here's my question for you all...I have a automatic transmission and first thing in the morning and randomly through out the day it shifts from 1st gear to 2nd very rough. It seems once it's warmed up it shift very smoothly, you don't even notice it.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

There is TSB for it. You have a 4yr/50K warranty of the 2005? Bring it to a dealership and have them check it for the TSB.

Same thing happens to me. 2005 2.3 4dr. auto. If the car shifts around 4000rpm's it's a lot smoother. My warranty is over (63000 miles on mine), but the car has been doing that since it was new and heard other complaintsabout it so i figured there wasn't much to do about it.

Default 2005 Mazda 3 Shift Harsh

I am experiencing the same issue with my 2005 Mazda 3. My car is not under warranty and I called a dealership and they said they would charge me $140.00 just to check the car out. Anyone else experience grief with the dealership in wanting to fix this issue. TSB – what does that stand for? I was advised by my mechanic that the computer needed to be updated and only the Mazda Dealership could do this. Re flash?
Suggestions?
