Plastic and pretty plain except for a little low pebble finish.

The reason the OEM mud flaps don't fit on the hatchback is because they're designed only for the 3i sedan.... so let's extend that to they don't work on 3's with sidesills regardless of body style. There are plenty of aftermarket ones available, however for the front you need to make sure you get a flat one. I know some of the universal ones have a little rubbery flap which goes over the side of the car to make it look nicer, but it will look really weird on the front (w/ the sidesill) because part of it won't be flush with the car. Several people over at M3F have also just purchased a black plastic trash can from walmart and cut mudflaps out of it.

Oh and your question for fit.... basically you just line up the generic one with where you want it and drill holes in it to match up with the wheel well.

I intend to use the flat ones I have on the rear to keep the dirt and tar offthe bottom of my rear bumper cover. I'll do the same w/the fronts if, 1) I decide I really want them there 'cause I'm not really a big fan of mud flaps. And 2) I can find a second pair to match the first. AZ only had one pair left at all the local stores and I got them... this was early this year some time. Another delayed project.
Oh and I took some cardboard and with the car parked on a flat, level surface put it on the ground and traced the outline and the inline as best as I could onto it. From there, I will simply determine how far off the ground I want them and trim off the bottom of the cardboard to match. Then I will have a complete and accurate template to work from... but suspension/brakes first, also STILL waiting to be finished.

looks like Rally armor http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showt...hp?t=123704875 makes some specifially for our hatch or the speed but it will fit. they look alright, are pricy imo for a flat flap of urethane. I would be interested if they started making a moulded flap that more aesthetically merged to the contours of the bumper/ front skirts. thattttt would b sexy. form and function. example: http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/images...e08e361fb6.jpg - now thats a sexy mudflap

I still think $120/set is a little high. I'll keep my generic cheapies (<$1,) thank you.
