Any good tips to removing head-light lense clouding on a 05 Madza 3 2.3L?
Anyone experience this yet in this car?

 

The same thing happened on my '05...but I don't have to worry about it anymore since it blew up in a fire...

 

Well there you go.... get your car to blow up.

Is it the whole lense clouding up or is the clear layer peeling off the top edge of the plastic cover? If you're under warranty I believe other people have gotten them replaced. If not then you could try getting someone that does headlight restoration (wet sanding, etc.) but I have no idea how much that would cost.

 

I have an 05 3 and my driver's side headlight lens is clouding up too. My passenger light was replaced so that one is still clear. I am no longer under warranty so i need to find a solution. When i would wax the car, I would wax my headlights, and when i did, the cloudiness would go away. It's only a temporary fix. There is afairly big difference in light output. Less light can get out and my driver's side light gets overpowered by the passenger side light. It also causes more glare. How did your car catch fire????

 

One of the buildings where I work went up in flames last October.
Unfortunately I didn't have my keys so I was unable to move my car away from the building...

i had some clouding and moisture build-up in one of my headlights a while back. eventually , my headlight burnt out and i had to get the whole assembly replaced. $$$.

 

They should have been able to buff that out lelola

There is a polish that you can buy, or have a professional do (preferred,) or if it's not so bad, try toothPASTE and a brush, the more aggressive the better... like Pepsodent, i.e.

 

I thought about just buffing out some of the scratches...and maybe getting some new wheels but I decided just to get a brand new car - thank god for insurance!

I didn't have my keys because they were in my desk - along with my jacket & my wallet.
When a fire alarm goes off in a building like that, you get out - fast!

 

Thequick and inexpensivesolution is to buy some plastic polish (sometimes called plastic restorer), which is generally available at autoparts stores. Some of them are especially for headlight lens - that's what I would recommend. It's not a permanent solution, but I used it on my former car, it generally lasted a couple weeks at a time. Cleaning and polishing the lens' was a one minute job, not bad at all.

If your cloudiness is very minor, it's possible the polish could be more than a temporary solution.

I have seen "restoration kits" in some stores, never tried them. The kits involve either plenty of elbow grease on your part, and some of them in fact require a drill, to which you attach pads which you use to buff the cloudiness off. Also, as icsports alluded, some auto detailing shops offer a headlight restoration service (which sounds kind of like the boob jobs some older ladies get - ha!), again, no experience with this (the headlight restoration service for cars, I mean ...).
