Just for reference, what do late model BMW's use? 6000k? As they have a slightly blue/purple hue. I'm thinking aboout 8000k bulbs but am worried about visibility. Thanks for any info.

All OEM HID bulbs are around 4,300-4,500 kelvin.... none of them are 6,000k or above. The color you get from nice projectors like BMWs, Acuras, etc. is from the shield providing the cutoff. Also as the bulbs get some hours on them they change color slightly.

If you're worried about visibility then just go with 4-5,000 k bulbs.

WarDogs, the headlight armor may change the look of the light, but it's not providing more. HID's put out ~ 3x the light of halogens...... so it's not just the whiter look that makes them better.

AHAH, that makes sense . This is just more for show to get that blue color effect
