if you've ever seen that episode of Mythbusters where they tailgate a semi and get better gas mileage? Well I intentionally tailgated semi-trailers on a tank of gas as much as possible a few months ago, and got almost 39mpg. I don't know how people feel about tailgating them, but it doesn't bother me, my brakes will stop me before their's stop them. Plus it saves me money!

Drafting has been used for decades even among semi truck drivers........and common driving technique with NASCAR drivers.
Its all the chips your "WILL" get when drafting a semi. I use to do that with older cars not my newer ones. The Mazda already have a tendency to have their front ends in the chip zone now. HA!
But if you are going to draft I suggest getting a clear bra for your front end.

I think you are correct . . the 6 speed Mazda 3 2018 2.5 L is such a blest to drive though. I'd like to change out torsion bar for better handling .

The installation of at least an Ebach rear anti-roll bar can noticeably improve the driving fun of the 2018 Mazda 3

Inside or out?
Nothing a single edge blade and some vinegar or quality glass cleaner cant remedy? Unless it is in the center of the safety glass itself.

Default UK mpg vs US

Still waiting for my new Mazda 3 to be delivered, was supposed to be last week but I was ill with covid and there's been a minor issue with the paperwork so hopefully next week.

In the meantime I've had a 2019 Mazda 3 Skyactiv X 2.0L 180ps car as a loan until my new one turns up.
It's got 56,000 miles on the clock and I used it for 3 days on my Commute into work which is a 70 mile round trip.
As a matter of interest I reset the mpg readout and filled the fuel tank to the brim. Did the 3 days of commuting and the dash readout was giving me 58mpg.
Topped up the tank again and calculated it as 54mpg.

That's the sort of figures I was hoping for, so will be very happy if I get that with my new car (after it's done a few miles of course)

But my question is why are the US spec cars with a similar engine/output only being reported as around 30-35mpg.
I realise the US & UK gallon are different but taking that into account I would be getting about 45mpg (US gallons).

Obviously weather, driving style, roads etc.. is a big factor, but reading around it seems most US cars are getting way less mpg than the European ones, any theories on why?
