It requires a reprogramming of the ECM. The only people I've seen get around it have turbo'd their cars and have new computers driving everything.

yeah i know that, but like ive seen stock cars go past their limit and the drivers say they just drove it hard and eventually it wore out, and i find that kind hard to belive cuz since its electronic wouldnt the whole car just shut down.

Computer programs don't "wear out" Anyone saying that is full of sheeet.

You could possibly disconnect your vehicle speed sensor (or the sensor could go bad), but then your speedometer wouldn't work.

I have always owned fords, and chevys,..and with them...you can buy programmers,..you just plug it in,...reprogram the computer,..unplug it,.and everything is fixed,..you can firm up the shifts,..get rid of the speed limiter,..and a few other things,..but i am new to this import tuning stuff,..i haven't found a "programmer" like they make for the fords etc,..i plan to talk to a friend of mine who is a big import tuner, and see what eh has to say,..i'll post my results when i find out,...i think imports have programmer things also..but instead of plugging them in, then unplugging them..the unit stays plugged in, to keep the upgrades. Not sure which companys make a "programmer" or chip for the mazda 3 tho...i'll post anything if i do find one.

thanxs, as far as i know all they have out there for us is racing chips to replace the stock ones but no program to change the stock settings, ive heard rumors that some companies are a little relactant to make a program re-writer for the 3's cuz the computer is to damn complex and it "learns".
