ok i know i am not stupid but when i turn my lights on my speedometer, my tac and gas all dim a great deal. I know where you turn your lights on they are suppose to dim alittle.I just recently dissconnected my battery to check it and ever since then it has gotten very dark when i turn on my lights. if anyone has any suggestions that would be much appreciated thanx

You can also adjust the daytime lighting using the button/stalk that's on the left upper instrument cluster. The default is maximum, but can be adjusted lower. This will affect how bright/dim the nighttime lighting is too. With the lights on, that stalk switches from nighttime to daytime lighting only.Any permanent adjustments must be made with the headlights in the off position.
Check out the owners manual for further details.

I looked in my manual, and know what you are referring to, but my M3 does not have that button (Instrument Cluster Dimmer Select Button). I think if you have white background gauges (as I do),you do not have that button.

You're correct. Only the electroluminescent gauge cluster has it. specblend00 states he has an "s" model (2.3L) so therefore he should have it.
