I bought my 2008 Mazda3 hatch GT (Canada) and the autosensing rain wiper isn't appealing to me. I want to have a regular variable speed intermittent wiper. Would anyone know if I can buy an old wiper stalk from european model or older Mazda3 / Protege models and add it to the car and make it work?

dude all you gotta do is put your wiper stalk to the top and it wont move unless you put it down to auto. there is 3 settings off, auto and then fast. i own a GS and i find this to be an awesome feature.
