Default iSimple cable to iPod??

I have a 2006 M3 with an iSimple cable fed through the glovebox. I removed the radio to find this cable connected to an aux (type) jack on the back of the original factory radio..... However... It does nothing except charge my iPod. I have tried EVERYTHING ... media button, sat button, hitting cd button twice... Nothing!! Any clues.???

Is it the factory accessory from mazda? If it is the factory cable added on then your iPod should pop up a mazda symbol when plugged in.
