thank you both, Jim and Jmarcin! This will definitely help someone down the road.

I am always amazed by the expensive solutions some professional mechanics come up with.

FINAL UPDATE

The part finally arrived (took a week). I disassembled the door, and replaced the part. Very easy to do, especially since I've been in there half a dozen times now. The problem is solved, everything works perfectly.

One note: A few days after installing the door open jumper, the electronic locks started behaving erratically. Sometimes they would work, sometimes they would not. The doors always worked manually though. I think the anti theft computer/door lock computer was having a hard time with the one (main) module out of the circuit. The door locking logic is fairly complicated, and the lack of one of the modules giving feedback was resulting in the computer being in a strange state. Once the module was replaced, normal operation resumed.

If anyone ever needs any additional info on this problem, or replacing the module, just drop me an e-mail at jim (dot) kramer (at) pobox (dot) com. I'll be glad to help.

Thanks to all for their assistance along the way!

-Jim
