Default Are Japanese parts interchangeable with Mexico parts???

I just got off the phone with an oem parts manufacturer for Mazda. They are telling me that parts are not interchangeable. Every site I go to lists both the Japanese and mexican part as fitting. The parts look identical, but I guess the plugs might be different. I am looking for a sunroof motor. The original part is Mexican bjt1-69-870. The Japanese part is bhp2-69-870. Just having a hard time believing that they are not interchangeable. Especially since the junkyard nearest to me has many of the Japanese motors for a lot cheaper.

Have you rung your local dealers parts department and asked them?
