Jerky gear changes in automatic 2008 Mazda 3
Ive been experiencing jerky gear changes as the car goes through 1st to 2nd and to 3rd. I thought it was the transmission fluid so I got it flushed, and it is still doing the jerky gear changes. Any suggestions or thoughts of what this could be causing these weird gear changes?

42600 miles on it, and more so when it is cold, but when its hot, it does it a little bit. And its with normal driving. It doesnt do it when I'm driving more agressive, Above 3000 rpm in automatic mode.
Also there is a smell when I get out of the car after driving a little more agressive (past 3 or 4000 rpm). Is that normal as well? I figure it might just be the oil or something?

the hard shifts may be due to the pcm adapting to your driving style, driving it more on the aggressive side will cause harder shifts when just cruising around. The smell has me a little worried, you may be burning the fluid, id check the fluid again, and although it might be a little soon and expensive a trans flush wouldnt hurt, just because the trans fluid is still red does not mean its still good.

Adapting to harder driving? Care to explain?
Would I have to go to a dealer to get it reprogrammed back or if I drive normal for a while will it go back to the regular shifts?
The dealership did suggest bringing it in for a 90 dollar diagnostic and if it turned out to be the computer in the car, they would reprogram it.
And I just got my transmission flushed a couple of days ago. Made sure the fluid was the right ATF M-V Type 5.
They did rinse out the bay or something with water so that may be the smell?

So I called and asked about the shifting. They claim that it is the PCM adapting. But its been almost a week and I have been driving more settle, but still the jerky changes? I don't understand?
