I guess it doesn't qualify for the definition of a CAI in sense that the filter is mounted up front and away from the radiator. But my opinion is that a majority of the power gain is from the elimination of the stock airbox. That thing (stock) breathes through an opening witha surface area that appears to be smaller than that of the diameter of a baseball. This intake, while completely underhood, is open to the inner fender and is has the carbon fiber ducting to keep it drawing from the cooler air that comes from behind the headlight. It is also more protected from the elements and costs 1/3 to 1/2 less than the name brand CAIs. And I think the carbon fiber piece under the hood looks pretty cool.
