Default Loud clunk

Hey everyone.

I think the dealership has been messing with my car again...I keep hearing this really loud clunk toward what I believe is the rear suspension or exhaust system (could be park brakes or brakes also), after I idle the vehicle for my usual minute, and then shut the car off. After I get out, and get my books from school, I hear this really loud clunk (note, just one clunk), and then it stops! Plus, when I shut any of my doors, I can hear a clunk also!

Any possible diagnosis?

Car: 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 Cosmic Blue GT(not an 08.5)

I have heard of a few w/rear shock/suspension problems w/the MS3. The dealer in each case took care of it under warranty.
Oh and BTW: They were all 07 and early 08's. Check your build date and call the dealer.

I've already had my rear sway/stabilizer bar totally replaced at no charge a while ago. I don't think it's that.

I also had a weird clattering in my front suspension after it came from the dealer, but it went away.

I was talking about the shock absorber or a related rear suspension part.
And what makes you think a mechanic, a human being couldn"t make a mistake when installing the new SB?
It"s worth looking into, isn't it? Especially since there is a history w/rear shock problems.

Ok. I'll wait a few more days, and if I hear it at all the next few days, I will make an appointment with the same guy who did the rear swaybar (He's the only one I trust at the dealership.)

Thanks for your quick post, Virgin1.

Hah! Someone probably forgotten a tool in your car somewhere.

The problem has been resolved without a trip to the dealership.

It was just the rear heat shield around the muffler. My dad's Sierra does the same thing after you idle it for a minute.

Whoa!! The heat shield, that little, thin, sharp piece of tin, was causing a loud "clunk?" I wouldhave thought more like a thin annoying rattle from that.
But in any case, I'm glad for you that you solved the problem. Enjoy!
