Default mazda 3 2004 replacement low beam bulb

Oh my god, all I want to do is replace the low beam bulbs on my Mazda. Looks like I can get some that are brighter and that sounds good, but I can't believe how complicated it has become.

I hate cars driving toward me with blue headlights.

I bought some ge nightwawk H7-55NHS but it says something about bluewhite light.

Would anyone like to recommend a bulb? Please.

Thanks,

Tom

If you got the Night Hawks already I would run them. The Mazda3 Head light makes them look white not whiteish blue.
Those are SilverStar Ultra's, about the same as the Night Hawks.

I just ran into a problem with the retaining clip. Is it a spring, or do the screws have to be removed? I can't tell from the vantage I have.

Thanks,

Tom

Well.... it's a spring and it's a clip, but no, you do not have to removed the screws. It's a MAJOR PITA, though.
Take a mirror and put it behind the headlamp. That should help guide you as far as what you should, and especially should not be doing.

Ah thank you, that did it.

From the mirror (and a Mazda 3 manual I downloaded) it became clear I needed to push down and in, then the clip simply pops out and can be moved up out of the way. It took about a minute to do this.

Too bad I didn't know this yesterday when I tried but ran out of daylight. That way the cop who pulled me over early this morning wouldn't have, and I wouldn't have had to ask my wife why a copy of the registration wasn't in the car and she said, "Well, you should have.......

Oh well, we all know how that goes.

Thanks,

Tom

Default Changing the Low beam bulb

I was wondering if removing the head light assembly or rotating it over would make changing the bulb much easier. I looked at my 2007 (3) and it sure looks like the best way to change the bulb is to remove the whole headlight assembly. Any thoughts.

You have to remove the front bumper cover in order to do that, and that involves loosening the inner fender and loosening or removing the lower splash shields.
You sure you wanna go there?

I,m not sure of anything concerning these lights. I think I,ll just take the new bulbs back and forget it all. Thanks for the input Verg. I like my 2001 Silverado LS more and more when it comes to working on the Mazda 3 as compaired to the truck.
