Exclamation mazda 3 2005 engine oil level

i've checked my oil recently and i seen that it was low. so i decided to put some in and the oil level now is touching the M of the max on the dipstick. Is this too much oil and will it damage my car ?

You should be fine for oil level, provided you shut engine off and let it drain for a minute before checking. Even then i doubt damage will occur. Have you ever hear of the one where buddy added oil in the top of rocker cover until he could see oil pooling in there!
However, have you ever changed the pcv valve? I know Mazda never changed it as it's not a service item to check.
One of the first things you should do when oil is disappearing is to change this, especially on a 8 year old vehicle.

its not that my car is losing oil its just im going to do alot of mileage this week and i just checked the oil and instead of putting half a container of oil i put the whole thing in. and when my engine is cold its at the M of the max. but this shouldnt damage anything?

Also ive had my engine change about a year ago and im not quite sure if they changed the pcv valve but she doesnt loose oil or burn any.

The main reason for not overfilling is it can cause to gaskets leaking.

beaudoin: I don't know how much above the max mark the M is located on this dipstick. But if you are concerned you may use a small diameter tubing and a suction devise to pull some oil out through the dipstick tube. I am sure a mechanic will do it for you.
