Just got a 2015 Mazda 3 S grand Touring last week. So far I have put about 2,500 mostly highway miles on it. I am only averaging 35.1 mpg so far. Does the mpg get better with time or is this as good as it gets.i made sure the tach. Was at 2 going between 60 and 70 mph.
On both of my Toyota's when they listed highway average miles both cars surpassed the mpg figures by 3 to 9 mpg. I was hoping I would get at least 39mpg with the new Mazda.

what do you mean by only 35.1 mpg? Official manufacturers data says 26/35 mpg ... how can it get better?

 

Do you guys have i-stop? ( Mazda's stop start technology)

In New Zealand & Australia the 2.5 Mazda 3 Auto ( with i-stop) is listed as 6.1 ltrs /100kms or 46 MPG The 2.0 gets 49 MPG or 5.8 ltrs /100kms

 

The figures you listed are in Imperial (UK) MPGs. Those become 38 and 40 MPG (US) respectively. I'm not quite sure why the large discrepancy, but I assume it's due to a difference in fuel testing regulations between the two countries, along with emissions and such.

 

Driving with cruise during day it shouldnt be hard to get 32-35 MPG.

AC, Stereo , light will take away alot of power. Specially the AC , my 14 iGT gets 5+ less mpg on highway with AC on.
