Mazda 3 starting troubles
hey! I have a Mazda 3 2.0 (think you guys call it the 3i?)
anyways, when sarting in the morning from cold it takes about 6 seconds of turning before it fires up, seems long to me! anyone else experienced this? it is run on 95RON fuel as the handbook states? although it has had a little 97RON when i first got it. but shouldn't make a difference i would have thought?

RE: Mazda 3 starting troubles
Fuel pump check valves in the pumps have been a considerable problems on the 3 that creates that exact condition mazda jay. The check valve allows all of the fuel pressure to drop off and then even allows the fuel to drain back out of the lines to the tank so it takes quite a while of cranking to get fuel pressure/ volume built back up.
If the car does this pretty much every morning then try cycling the key from off to run position 3-4 times. Every timeyou cycle the key the fuel pump will run for a second or two. If it then starts right up is a very good indication of pump check valve.
