hey guys, i recently bought a 2005 mazda3 5dr , the previous owner had a non factory radio so i decided to buy and reinstall the factory radio, but cant seem to find the adapters for that radio and the little display screen that goes on top of it...... any ideas where i can find them? also they tested the radio and it seems to be locked and asking for some code??

 

By chance does the far right button on the front of the HU say "MEDIA"? I'm assuming it does since you mentioned you can't find the plug for the LCD. In '04-'05 the LCD was hardwired to the HU itself, however in '06 it got it's own dedicated harness plug. Sounds like you were given a '06 or newer HU vs. the '05 you need.

As to a lock code that's the first I've heard of Mazda having a lock code for the OEM HU.

Oh and did the previous owner cut off the main harness plug?

 

yes it does say media on the far right... i bought the radio on ebay.. they said it fits all mazda 3s , (didn't say anything bout year), so the radio came with little screen and idk if it connects directly to the radio or the car's wiring system? anyways i need to get the male plugs for both the screen and radio..

 

If it says MEDIA the it's (at least) an '06 HU. The HU will work but the LCD isn't going to display anything. What you actually need is a '04-'05 HU, not a '06+.
