Always take the sst's out before tightening the crank. If u leave the plate in the cams it will snap off the end pieces on the camshafts. U really don't need to rotate the crank after your done its almost impossible to get it wrong with having the sst tools. But u should install the crank sensor before removing the sst's and before tightening the crank. Match the hole on the crank pulley spoke up with the hole in the front cover. Then u should see one of the teeth on the pulley that has a paint mark. Match the crank sensor to that paint mark and tighten the sensor down. Now remove all sst's and tighten crank bolt.

Yes of the 10 years that I have worked for mazda 8 of them have been as a master tech.
