I'm planning on buying a Mazda3 this week, so I figured I'd register and pose a question to you guys.

I know Mazda released a mid-modelyear refresh for 2008, and I'm set on the s GT manual, so the only differences I could find were the power driver's seat and the piano black finish (both I don't particularly care about).

So, I was excited when my local dealer gave me a great deal on a pre-refresh '08 GT. He quoted me about $20k with the moonroof/bose pkg, autodim mirror, mats and locks, not including tax and tag. Still, that's under invoice. Separately, he told me about the promotional financing going on right now - 1.9% for 36 months.

So, I jumped on it even though I don't really NEED the car right for a few months. However, now he's telling me that the car included a $750 manufacturer-to-dealer incentive that they were passing on to me that isn't combinable with the special interest rate.

Has anyone heard of this incentive (it's not listed on Edmunds) or dealt with a dealer recently where they got a pre-refresh M3? What sort of deal did you get?

Other than some aesthetic stuff the only big change for the '08.5 is that all CD players read Mp3 formats.

Not sure about the whole incentive thing, but I've certainly seen things where you could have one or the other as far as discounts. If you don't get the promotional financing then what would you qualify for? Would you end up saving more by getting the $750 off now or with a lower APR?

 

Assuming I could get 6% as the normal rate, it's a wash - the difference in interest is about $750...
