haha yes drac i was just kidding. the mazda 3 is not high and mighty but it is a nice car. however i do notice people in their Toyota IS300 and honda civics and little cars like that. they come up to me and tell me that my car is beautiful. hell i took my car into my shop and my shop teacher told me that he was considering this.. then bought a corolla... lol. but generally im extremely happy with it.

God. How homogenized vehicles have become. And they used to say all the eighties looked like jelly bean.
On the other hand, they were much the same in the thirties too. I always have trouble identifying one thirties car from another.
And history repeats itself yet again. Will the human race ever grow up and learn from it's past?

But since most makers seek to market a vehicle that will sell in the hundreds of thousands a year, for several years, they will fall into a mode ofincorporating what is already working/selling. Example, if people like reflector tail lights, then more makers will throw them into their vehicles. Ditto aluminum rims with the big spoke look.
You talk about the 80s ... were the 90s any different? The 00s to date? As owners of Japanese nameplate vehicles, we could be considered part of the problem. Vehicle styling has converged since the Japanese invasion began in the mid/late 70s. Everything now is driven by marketing surveys that judge consumer reaction to concept vehicles at car shows, and further surveys from that point.
It's not that we haven't learned ... its that the automakers have learned too well.
