As far as I know, you can't use an ignition box like that on our cars. Our cars are coil on plug, which means each plug has its own ignition coil. In other words, if I'm correct, the cars are distributor less.

Are these coils on our 3's supposed to be "lifetime"? I've heard some should never have to be replaced.
I've also known somebody to have to replace more than one on a Chevy Trailblazer, he said it ran him about $160 a pop.

The list for about $90 from Mazda, I think you could get a replacement from a local auto parts store for less.
They do go out and normally you will have to replace the plugs and not the COP, but I have lost 1 on my F150 and they are probably pretty much the same.

Just for ****s and giggles I replaced my boot and coil (the "spring") on all four of my plugs. Nothing different as for how it runs, just that the car was at 90k miles when I did it. Ran me about $20 I believe for them.
