Default My 3 lost power

I was on my way to work this morning and my 09 mazda 3 hb started powering down to where it was only barely going ,it would not get over 2nd gear at best.
Of all days to forget my cell phone, I was on the freeway with no exit ramp close enough, So I had to stop...
Finally received help from a policeman had it towed to dealership.
I have 40,000 miles so standard factory warranty just ran out.
After forever, they could not find anything wrong with the tranny ,
had to pay for towing and half of the diagnostic ...
drove it back towards home, and after stopping at the bank,,,
It did it again....
LOss of power....never stalled, no check engine lights,
pulled into a trans shop to ask questions, complete nit wits ..
drove down the street to a garage and turned it off and talked to him..
Well,,,,He thought maybe fuel filter, and after looking it seems the 3 really has non??
So any ideas????
Fuel pump????
It starts good, drives good ,,then boom,,,,Loss of power...
They are coming to tow it back in again...
seems fuel pump is under drive train warranty ...
free mazda road side assistance tow this time
Ideas????

im actually having the same exact problem, at first i had an exhaust leak, fixed it and problem was solved, then out of no where it happened again, and like yours no cel, stayed running but wouldnt go. It seems to me to be either the stupid electronic tb is malfunctioning or something ignition related is wrong, if your guys can figure out the problem let us know whats up

The fuel filter would be in the tank.

You said it 'powers down' and won't come out of 2nd but, if you press on the gas do the revs come up?
If the revs are coming up but the car is not moving then it is feeding it gas, getting air, and getting spark. It's not getting power from the motor to the ground so, that should tell you where to start looking.

If the revs are not coming up then it is probably not the tranny and you have a fuel, air, and or spark issue. Since it is running it is more than likely not spark. Since it is intermittent it is probably not air (unless the TB is malfunctioning). It is probably a fuel issue.

Had it towed back into the dealer friday..
I hope to find out something today..
It seems to have something to happen once the car is warm.
I had driven several miles he first time that it happened.
After they looked at it the first time in the shop,
It drove fine, they didn't come up with anything ..
Drove it about 10 miles, stopped for lunch ...
then drove another 15 miles , stopped at bank...
then it acted up again..
I have had many cars, it is such an odd thing to describe..
On the freeway, it suddenly lost power, i watched as my car went from 5th to 4th,,,to 3rd, to 2nd,,,,
pushed the pedal it didn't go any faster than 1-2nd gear..
It happened so fast,
I didn't really think about the rpm's
the second time , I felt it do it again, as I was pulling out from the bank, stopped at a stop sign and when I pulled onto the street, it just would not go faster than 1st gear..
pulled into a lot, and stopped the car to talk with an auto mech..
after starting it back up,
it drove normal the 5 miles home.
The dealer came and picked it up with a wrecker...
I really never looked at the rpm's...
before it was towed,
I started it up, never missed, no hesitation.ect..
I have read where fuel pumps can heat up and not put out enough fuel to keep the car running..
The dealer said the first time, no codes were thrown,
and the tranny checked out fine,,,
So that is why I was thinking fuel related as well,,
