I really need help on a question! I need to find out if I can get the HID headlight bulbs for my car...? I have an "i" not a "s"... but i did that aftermarket HID lights with my old car, my integra, and the wattage of the lights totally burned the headlight wiring apart! my lights didnt work, had to get whole electrical system in front re-wired.. BUT i really LOVE the HID lights on my car.!

What type can I put in there? And how do I know they won't burn the wiring..?
Hopefully you will know alittle since you have HID lights and all...

Thanks!

kimnremi97, was it an entire HID setup, or just better bulbs?

The reason your wiring burnt out is b/c your bulbs were running at a higher wattage, which means you were drawing more current which overheated the wiring. Hid's run cooler than regular bulbs so you wouldnt have a problem with that but it has a to be a true HID kit not just bulbs. A true hid kit is not just bulbs it comes with bulbs, wiring, ballast etc. You are better off with that even though its more expensive than just buying bulbs. Better to pay more than to burn out all your wiring and having to pay for that.

You will definitely need to install a good quality kit if you want true HID lights. Normal halogen and projector beam bulbs run off of normal battery voltage of between 12-14 volts DC (direct current) and have a filament like a bulb in your house. HID bulbs are more like a flourescent bulb in that there is no filament but instead filled with Xenon gas. A control module or ballast then converts your 12v battery voltage to around 25,000 volts AC (alternating current) which excites the xenon gas molecules and light is produced. They are usually fairly sealed systems due to very high voltage. Your house voltage is only 120 or 240 volts AC and you know nasty of a shock you can get from that.
