Disconnecting the battery will reset the ECU.

disconnect the positive battery terminal only for 15 min then put it back on... should reset all of your lights but wont take the code out of the ecu

stalling @ idle is something that cant be solved by resetting the ecu, it may require a reflash (dealer only), or it may be a bad maf or anything fuel or ignition related, the info given is very sparse and its gonna end up having to be taken somewhere to get fixed anyway.

Have you gotten any check engine lights?

Like Tracker said this doesn't really sound like a ECU issue and replacing the battery shouldn't cause that issue. That said something that would cause it would generally trip a CEL.

The only similar thing I ever had happen was on my old ranger where the negative terminal wasn't making good contact with the battery post. It would frequently stall when stopped (and by stall I mean the negative terminal would become disconnected and there was no power at all). I'd have to jump out, jiggle the terminal and then start the car. I'd cleaned and tightened it several times but finally had to end up replacing the terminal/cable. Worked great then.
