This EXACT thing happened to me when I changed the battery on my Mazda3... it would stop at lights and stop signs and I would have to restart the car..... I had to reset the computer in the car. I was very puzzled because I had never had this happen to any other vehicle I have ever owned so I was thinking all kinds of terrible things.... like 'now what?' It was a simple fix of resetting the computer. I have read others talk like nothing at all happened when they changed their batter and I wish I could be so lucky. Sorry you are experiencing this but it is reassuring knowing that others are having the same issue, not just myself. I am changing the battery again and trying to find out where I found the info the first time to reset it and so far cant find it but thought Id chime in on your comment to let you know not to change the speedo... don't go spend lots of money for new parts.... I didnt have to buy anything new or change anything out, just follow some instructions which I remember having to stand 10 feet from the vehicle but can't remember much more than that so praying I find the info I need really soon lol `

Disconnect your battery, clean the throttle body, reconnect the battery, start it up with no loads ( lights, a/c etc) let it idle for a few minutes then go for a drive.

it may be a bad maf or anything fuel or ignition related, the info given is very sparse and its gonna end up having to be taken somewhere to get fixed anyway.
