The turbo spin down time can also be accomplished by driving GENTLY the last few minutes.

Don't come ripping into the parking lot at 6000 rpm and get on the brakes to skid into your spot and shut down the car before sprinting toward the time-clock.

Likewise your neighbors may just think you have a practical little economy car as you putter down the street on your way home.

I just got my MS3 three days ago... I put 120 miles on it already! I LOVE it!!!

My questions are about the Turbo regarding cooling it down. You all say just sit there for 30-60sec and enjoy the sexiness of the car. One person said there is some sort of oil circulation that is built in, does anyone have Mazda documentation on that? Also, even when I let the car idle for 30-60sec it still gets hot under the hood (the temp gauge reads middle but it is REALLY hot to the skin) is this normal or should I worry about maybe an after market scoop to cool the intercooler more?

When idling I have noticed the engine sound will increase then decrease in a 30-60sec cycle, is that the oil circulation thingy or am I nuts?

I have to say again, this car is so much fun!

Thanks,

That's the first time I ever heard about built in after-run oil circulation "built-in." I don't think so?
But as far as running the turbo for a minute after driving... good idea!! The idea is the circulate new cooler oil through the hot turbo to lubricate and cool at the same time. It helps avoid coking the oil in the hot turbo bearings and seizing them up eventually.
If you don't want to wait, you can always install a turbo timer which will do it for you? It allows the engine to run and then shut down on it's own for a predetermined (often owner selected) period of time.
This way you park, lock the ignition, take you key, lock the carand are off to wherever while you car shuts itself down.
If I had a turbo I would consider it cheap insurance.
