Default New Pedals

Well I'd never really intended to replace my pedals.... until the day I couldn't start my car because my wet foot kept slipping off the clutch. Anyway sok07 from mazda3forums came out with a new set of pedals for the 3. I've had a deadpedal he made for nearly 3 years, and when I saw he was making an accel. pedal replacment for the MS3 I (and a few others) badgered him until he made a new pedal set. The kicker is since he needed a test fit on a '05 (since the pedal arms are different on at least the clutch) he sold them to me for the cost of the metal sheet! Also he threw in a free upgrade to an aluminum deadpedal to replace the steel one I've had.

So these are all aluminum. He drills the holes, etches the metal in acid to give it an emery board like texture, and then countersinks the holes so they're shiney. Two holes per pedal and Viola! And yes I know my carpet is dirty. <sigh> Here's the link to his thread about the pedals.

Damn those are sweet...I don't want to mod my 3 though. Spend enough on the 7. I shouldn't have joined this board lol

I don't even know that I would count this as a mod..... I mean sure you're drilling six holes but still it's not much in the grand scheme of things.

My point is once you start modding, you can't. Even though this is only a cosmetic mod

Not true!! I strongly disagree w/you. A good set ofpedals are a lot more than a cosmetic mod.

I have the second series in these pics, but see those raised ridges machined in to the pedal in the first pic?? They won't let your foot slide. They are grippy no matter what the weather or what you may have picked up on ther bottoms of your shoes. The gas pedal is smooth though, as it should be.
I worried when I ordered these that there was no rubber padding on them. I don't worry any more.

It's not the best pic, but here they are installed in my car. (my carpet is cleaner too... Remi. [:-])

I wouldn't trade them for any others. I LOVE 'em.

Was that supposed to be "you can't stop"? I totally agree with virgin1, this was far from a cosmetic mod. The reason I did it was because my foot was slipping off the clutch so much when wet that I couldn't start the car. I was a little concerned at first about how well the etching would hold my feet, but I can't slide along the pedal if I try. Definitely a huge improvement over the stock rubber. I will admit that the modding bug is self-perpetuating though I try to keep my mods to functional only..... really the only purely aesthetic mod I have is my blue LED accent lighting, and even that is really subtle..... also it looks awesome on the new pedals.

Yeah I pretty much hacked up my post. I think over the years my posting abilities have declined as I'm not making a lot of sense in them. I know pedals aren't just a cosmetic mod. Not sure why I said that. I love my momo pedals on my other car. I haven't had any issues with slippage with my 3 but these pedals look nice and I'd probably buy them strickly for looks if I were to replace my stockers

Slippage on the 3 pedals was one of the main reasons I went w/these... that and a GB on Mazda247.com
I really do Love 'em though.
